Irene Ryan nominations lead to a C-SC theatre first

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College theatre students have been nominated to compete in the Kennedy Center for American College Theatre Region V Festival (KCACTF) for acting and design in the C-SC productions of The Riding Club and The Foursome.

KCACTF has recognized the work of five students as outstanding for their acting roles in the productions and they will be competing for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship at the festival. For The Riding Club, Whitney Colston, senior theatre major from Neosho, Mo.; Jerica Exum, senior arts management major from Chicago, Ill.; and Meghan Townley, sophomore arts management major from Quincy, Ill. For The Foursome, Patrick Parsons, senior criminal justice major from Memphis, Mo., and Travis Dahlhauser, senior speech and theatre education major from Rockford, Ill.

Three students were also nominated to compete with their production designs. For The Riding Club costumes, Whitney Colston has been nominated to participate in the Barbizon Costume Design competition. For The Riding Club sound design, Joey Burbach, junior theatre major from Grant City, Mo., has been nominated to compete in the Sound Design Competition. For The Foursome costumes, Jennifer Smith, senior religion and philosophy major from McLeansboro, Ill., has been nominated to compete in the Regional Costume Design Competition.

The Sept. 30 performance of the Foursome at the Lewis Street Playhouse in Canton, Mo., marks the first time in C-SC theatre history that each actor in the production was a current Irene Ryan Acting Competition Nominee.
