Weather prompts delay of scholarship competition

CANTON, Mo. – Due to the threat of inclement weather and the continued snow clean-up effort, Culver-Stockton College is canceling the Pillars for Excellence Scholarship competition scheduled to take place Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011.
The competition will take place as scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 19.
Those registered to take part on Saturday, Feb. 5 are encouraged to attend Saturday, Feb. 19.
First-time entering freshmen with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and a minimum ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1170 may be eligible to compete. The Pillars for Excellence Scholarship is a full-tuition merit award, which may be renewed for four years. The estimated value for four years is $89,000. The competition consists of an interview with faculty and current students and a written essay. Students are also scored on their GPA and ACT/SAT scores. All Pillars for Excellence competition participants receive some scholarship funding and are invited to join the Culver-Stockton College Honors Program.
