“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is described by the Music Theatre International as “a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.” Cast members for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” include: Joey Burbach, senior theatre major from Grant City, Mo., as Chip Tolentino; Jason Epley, freshman theatre major from Quincy, Ill., as William Barfee; Kaitlyn VanderMaiden, freshman theatre major from Quincy, Ill., as Olive Ostrovsky; Morgan Hakenewerth, freshman psychology major from Wentzville, Ill., as Logainne Schwartzandbenierre; Nicholas Johnson, sophomore theatre major from Feldon, Ill., as Leaf Coneybear; Kirsten Sindelar, junior musical theatre major from Sherrard, Ill., as Marcy Park; Hollyann Lillie, junior musical theatre major from Roscoe, Ill., as Rona Lisa Peretti; Ryan DeGraw, sophomore speech and theatre education major from Canton, Mo., as Vice Principal Douglas Panch; and Tim Maples, junior musical theatre major from Chicago, Ill., as Mitch Mahoney. Brandon Mundschenk, sophomore theatre major from Deer Park, Ill., will serve as stage manager; while Elizabeth Nosbush, freshman math education major from Bowling Green, Mo., and Josh Kollitz, sophomore music major from Grant City, Mo., will serve as assistant stage managers. A special matinee will be staged Sunday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. in the Mabee Little Theatre inside the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center on the campus of Culver-Stockton. Performances will also be held Thursday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. , and Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are adults, $8 and students, $5.
