Artist Myles Keough ’08 headlines C-SC Alumni Gallery Opening
Tuesday, September 20, 2011
CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College will host the creative works of artist and C-SC alumnus Myles Keough during the Alumni Gallery exhibit running Thursday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 28. An opening reception with a gallery talk is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Herrick Art Gallery on the C-SC campus.
Keough, who currently works and resides in the St. Louis, Mo., area, has displayed work in a number of solo exhibitions including “Municipalities Occur” at Labeebee’s, “STLPaints?” at the Vino Gallery and “Somewhere Beyond Normal” at All Along Press. Keough’s “new work is an investigation into the artist’s ‘complex balance between nature and nurture.’ As questioned by Myles, is it ‘the nature of the material or its natural reaction to the application process and the artist’s manipulation or nurturing of the material?’ The work presents the viewer with a staggering representation of the power of aesthetics and ideology,” according to Keough’s website myleskeough.wordpress.com.
Keough graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art and a Bachelor of Science in art education. In addition to his solo work and exhibition experience, Keough also teaches a number of art related courses at the Youth Learning Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Culver-Stockton’s Alumni Gallery is free and open to the public. For more information on this or other upcoming events, contact the Culver-Stockton College Division of Fine Arts at (573) 288-6346.
