Master ceramic collection displayed at C-SC

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College will host the master ceramic works of the artist Bede Clarke beginning Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 in the Mabee Art Gallery, located in the Herrick Foundation Center on the C-SC campus. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m., with a gallery talk beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Bede Clarke received his BFA from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.; and his MFA from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. In addition to serving as professor of art at the University of Missouri, Clarke displays his works in a number of group and solo exhibitions. His most recent exhibitions include, Red Lodge Clay, Red Lodge, Mont.; Red Star Studios, Kansas City, Mo.; Arvarda Center for the Arts and Humanities, Arvarda, Colo.; and Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, La. In describing his work Clarke says, “My goal in making this work has been to create quiet, simple pots, which like a good meal, leave a healthy, full feeling.”
