Culver-Stockton College hosts 54th Annual Science Fair
Wednesday, February 15, 2012

CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College will host dozens of area high school students Saturday, Feb. 25 during the 54th Annual Science Fair on the campus of Culver-Stockton College.

Junior and senior high school students from the surrounding area will take part in the fair, with projects judged by faculty members of Culver-Stockton College’s Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, as well as Culver-Stockton students. “The science fair is an excellent opportunity to recognize students’ achievements in scientific inquiry and critical thinking. We value these achievements highly at Culver-Stockton College, and we know that the science fair helps foster a continuing interest in the sciences in younger students,” comments Lauren Schellenberger, chair of the Natural and Mathematical Sciences Division and assistant professor of biology.

Project set-up will begin at 8 a.m. in the Culver-Stockton Science Center, with judging to begin 9:15 a.m. Parents and the public are invited to view projects from 11 a.m. to noon. Announcements and awards will begin at 2 p.m. in Merillat Chapel inside the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.

The 53rd Annual Science Fair, held in early 2011, hosted more than 120 high school juniors and seniors with students from five regional schools in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa, including: Canton R-V, LaPlata R-II, Central Lee School, Keokuk Middle School and Southeastern Senior and Junior High School.
