Tri-State High School Art Day at Culver-Stockton College

CANTON, Mo. – Students from 17 regional high schools will be on the campus of Culver-Stockton College Thursday, March 15 for a day-long visual art event. Participating students are invited to enter their original artwork in a juried visual arts competition. In addition, the day will include a number of art workshops for students.

Students are scheduled to arrive on campus and begin displaying their original works in Meaders Lounge inside the Gladys Crown Student Center at 8:30 a.m. A brief introduction and welcome will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in Alexander Campbell Auditorium inside the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.
Art workshops will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in the Herrick Foundation Center. Workshop topics include Paper Mania, Graphic Arts as a Career Choice, Ceramics and Painting, Graphite Techniques, and Block Printing on Textiles. Students are also encouraged to tour the Mabee Art Gallery, which will be open throughout the day, inside the Herrick Foundation Center.

Awards for the juried visual art competition will be announced beginning at 1:30 p.m. inside the Alexander Campbell Auditorium. Professional water color artist Brenda Beck Fisher and Quincy University Professor Bob Major will serve as competition judges.
