Missouri Colleges Funds receives two substantial donations

CANTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) announces that EMERSON has contributed $16,000 to underwrite need-based scholarships at member schools.

This grant from EMERSON will provide 16/$1,000 Science and Math scholarships at each of the 16 member schools. The scholarships will be awarded by the member schools to students studying toward attaining degrees in science and math.

Additionally, the Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) announces that WELLS FARGO ADVISORS has contributed $24,000 to underwrite need-based scholarships at member schools.

This grant from the WELLS FARGO ADVISORS will provide 16/$1,500 scholarships at each of the 16 member schools. The scholarships will be awarded by the member schools to students studying toward attaining degrees in business related fields.

“The Missouri Colleges Fund is very grateful for this gift from WELLS FARGO ADVISORS,” said Mike Backer, MCF president. “WELLS FARGO ADVISORS recognizes the importance of education and the significant impact that an educated workforce has on Missouri’s economy.” Backer added that the EMERSON gift will also have a meaningful impact on students. “This contribution will be matched by other donor gifts in an effort to make Missouri a national leader in math and science education. EMERSON recognizes the importance of education and the significant impact that an educated workforce has on Missouri’s economy.”

MCF member schools are independent baccalaureate degree-granting liberal arts and comprehensive colleges and universities in the state of Missouri. Their income is derived primarily from private sources.

MCF member schools include: Avila University, Kansas City; Central Methodist University, Fayette; Columbia College, Columbia; Culver-Stockton College, Canton; Drury University, Springfield; Evangel University, Springfield; Fontbonne University, St. Louis; Hannibal LaGrange College, Hannibal; Maryville University, St. Louis; Missouri Baptist University, St. Louis; Park University, Parkville; Rockhurst University, Kansas City; Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar; Westminster College, Fulton; William Jewell College, Liberty; and William Woods University, Fulton.
