Sunday, September 23, 2012
Culver-Stockton College formally dedicated the Joseph`59 and Charlann Schwan Center for Business and Technology during a ceremony Friday, Sept. 21, held at the new room in the Herrick Foundation Center. The donors were present as they were thanked by multiple speakers including College President Richard Valentine, Dr. Kim Gaither, professor of business and Kim Armstrong, a business student. The ceremony was followed by a light reception.
The room was designed as an environment that exemplifies the business world, to give students an idea of what to expect after college. The technical capabilities of the room include 24 laptops, a Smart Board with dual projection and seating for sixty students. “It is because we have donors like the Schwans that Culver-Stockton is such a fine institution. I cannot thank them enough for their continued support of our school,” says Valentine.
The business and technology center is not the first donation the Schwans have made to the school. Last year they also donated the funds for the Discovery and Opportunity Conference Center, located in Henderson Hall. “There has to be a partnership with your alma mater,” says Joe Schwan. “The school gives you so much, and it is important to remember to give back to them. We put a lot of value on education and on helping our fellow man. A legacy is very important.”
Classes are already being held in the new center.
